About Our Practice

Murray Scholls Vision Center is pleased to offer a wide range of optometric services, eye care products including eyeglasses, specialty eyewear, frames, and contact lenses. Our staff is happy to help however we can.

Our mission is our patients having the best possible experience from check-in to check-out at any of our clinics. It shows in everything that we do. From your first contact with us to your appointment and your follow-up, we aim to make your eye care experience great. This is what drives us to provide you with the best care year after year!

Dr. Brad Smith

Dr. Brad Smith received his Bachelor of Science degree in Visual Science and his Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University. He received the American Academy of Optometry’s Julius F. Neumeller Award in Optics and the Beta Sigma Kappa Research Design Award in 1987, and the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association’s Young Optometrist of the Year in 1997. Dr. Smith joined our practice in 1987.

Dr. Smith enjoys golfing, flying, barefoot water-skiing, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Keely Hoban

Dr. Keely Hoban was born and raised in Montana. Dr. Hoban earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry in 2007 from College of Saint Benedict (Saint Joseph, MN), and achieved her Doctor of Optometry degree with distinction from Pacific University in 2011. She spent 2011 and some of 2012 at the Portland VA Medical Center doing a residency specializing in primary care with emphasis in ocular disease and low vision.

Dr. Hoban and her family currently reside in Portland Oregon, where they enjoy golfing, hiking, playing tennis and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Emily Bee

Dr. Emily Bee is a Portland local who earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Willamette University in 2012, and received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University in 2017. During her time at Pacific, she completed clinical rotations at the Portland VA Medical Center, Chemawa Indian Health Service, and Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute. Dr. Bee practices primary care optometry with specialty care related to ocular disease, and pre/post-operative care for cataract surgery and LASIK.

Dr. Bee enjoys skiing, hiking the Pacific Northwest, playing tennis, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Elaine Wyner

Dr. Elaine Wyner earned her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Health Sciences from Oregon State University in 2013 and she went on to receive her Doctor Of Optometry from Pacific University in 2017. During her time at Pacific University, she completed clinical rotations with ICON LASIK, the Portland VA Medical Center, and several private practices in Oregon and Washington.

Dr. Wyner enjoys running, cycling, swimming, playing tennis, and spending time with her friends and family.

About Our Team

Our team of eye care professionals is experienced and friendly. We’re here to help all patients understand their benefits, schedule appointments, and fulfill their eye doctor’s orders. Our opticians can give you guidance in picking out your perfect pair of eyewear, and our friendly office staff is knowledgeable about billing and benefits coverage.

Katie – Office Manager

Katie began working at Tigard Vision Center in the beginning of 2007 as our Office Manager. Prior to managing the office, she practiced law in the State of Washington for 15 years. Since coming to work in the field of Optometry, Katie has developed a new passion for eye health, eye wear, and superior patient care.

She continues to be an active member of the Washington State Bar and the Oregon State Bar. Her hobbies include volunteering at her son’s school, golfing, snow skiing and spending time with family and friends.

Megan – Optician

Megan came to us in November, 2014 after working for a large eye care facility in Minot, North Dakota as an ophthalmic assistant.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, going to the coast and various festivals around Portland, as well as spending time with her family, friends and two children.

Alyssa – Front Desk

Alyssa is originally from the Midwest and moved to Portland in 2012. She was working in the Jewelry industry until she decided it was time to advance her customer service skills in the medical field and joined Murray Scholls Vision Center in the spring of 2017.

Alyssa and her husband live in Southwest Portland with their dog Lola. In her free time, she enjoys backpacking and hiking. She also enjoys visiting the local breweries or taking day trips to do wine tastings in the Willamette Valley.

Paige – Optometric Assistant

Paige joined the Tigard Vision Center team in 2016.

She graduated from Northwest University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. Since graduating she worked in the food manufacturing industry but wanted a change and joined Tigard Vision Center. In her spare time she enjoys running, reading and watching movies.

Alyssa – Billing Specialist

Alyssa began working at Murray Scholls Vision Center in 2018. She was born and raised in Oregon where she enjoys camping and hiking. Her Persian cat, Shere Kahn, is her pride and joy! Alyssa also loves yoga and the ocean.

Kristen – Executive Administrative Assistant

Having graduated from Northwest Nazarene University with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Kristen started working in the healthcare industry within the Durable Medical Equipment sector while living in Meridian, Idaho.  She moved to Portland in 2015 and began working at Tigard Vision Center during the Spring of 2018. She enjoys traveling with her husband, Kyle, and cozying up to their dogs, Lola and Conan, with a good movie. Kristen is also a U-Jam Fitness Instructor and she loves to stay active.

Cailtin – Technician/Optician

Caitlin grew up in a small town in Utah before moving to Oregon two years ago. She started working for Murray Scholls Vision Center during the fall of 2018. In her spare time, Caitlin enjoys playing music on the guitar, drums, and bass. She also loves to spend time with her chihuahua named Jerry, playing video games, and exploring all of the beauty that Oregon has to offer.
